Heaven and Earth endure eternally.

Their enduring existence arises

Precisely because they do not strive to sustain themselves

(like sun and moon cycling without intent),

Thus achieving perpetual renewal.

Therefore, the Sage:

By retreating, they lead 

the people elevate them;

By releasing self, they become whole —

their being finds preservation.

Is this not their selflessness?

Precisely through this selflessness,

They fulfill their true being

(as rivers grow mighty by receiving all streams).
